The former site of a Food World on Pine Forest Road was sold to a private investor for $1.4 million, according to property management firm Crossman & Co.
The nine-acre property, Pine Forest Shopping Center, is located at 7859 Pine Forest Road just south of Interstate 10. Its current tenants include Pinch A Penny pool supply store and a Subway restaurant.
The new owner plans to convert the former grocery store space into a self storage facility, according to Crossman & Co. Managing Director Brian Carolan, who represented the Miami-based seller in the transaction.
"What drew him to the site is the proximity to Interstate 10 and the visibility from Pine Forest Road," Carolan said.
The sale took place in June.
Food World closed its four locations in Pensacola after its parent company, Belle Foods, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2013.
